Southwest Florida is a diverse ecosystem with several distinct fisheries. As you travel south by boat, the white sand beaches that line the coast transform into a labyrinth of mangrove estuaries and sawgrass prairies that ultimately lead to the Everglades National Park. Collier County is the northernmost entrance to the Everglades, and it is in this area that we run our Naples fishing charters.
The fishing around Naples, FL is world class, and there are many different ways to fish the area. We fish relatively shallow water (less than 20 feet) using spinning rods and reels with live bait, plugs and a variety of artificial lures. Our simplistic approach allows for year round success for anglers of all skill levels.
Our weather usually dictates the fishing. When the weather is stable, warm and calm, the fishing will usually be better. There are two seasons in Southwest Florida - Summer (hotter and wetter months) and Winter (cooler and drier months).
Naples Summer Fishing
May-October (our summer months) are the warmest and wettest months of the year. Temperatures average 90 degrees during the day and rain chances are high every day. The heat and amount of moisture will move the fish closer to deeper areas with a lot of tidal current. On our Naples fishing charters, we primarily fish closer to the beaches, passes, and nearshore waters to find large numbers of fish for our clients.
Naples Winter Fishing
November-April (our winter months) are cooler and drier than the summer. The winter weather patterns send our inshore fish into the shallows to warm up and push our offshore fish closer to our beaches. The winter months are the best time of the year to catch fish in the backcountry bays and estuaries.
Naples Backcountry Fishing
The Southwest Florida backcountry is comprised of thousands of mangrove islands, bays, lakes, rivers, and creeks where the freshwater of the Everglades meets the saltwater of the Gulf of Mexico. This area is home to a variety of fish species such as:
Black Drum
Sheepshead
Pompano
Ladyfish
Sharks
Tarpon
Snook
Redfish
Seatrout
Jack Crevalle
A trip to the Naples backcountry will take us through the mangrove islands as the boat twists and turns through the protected waters. Depending on the wind and tide, we will begin fishing the shorelines, points, cut banks, and flats edges in search of the perfect fishing day. We promise to go out of our way to make your Naples backwater fishing charter with us a memorable one.
Take a trip into the Naples backcountry with us and experience the fishing trip of a lifetime.
Naples Nearshore Fishing
The nearshore waters of Naples, Marco Island, and the 10,000 Islands are a diverse ecosystem that supports both inshore and offshore fish species. On our nearshore fishing charters, depending on the time of year, we put our clients on fish such as:
Grouper
Mangrove Snapper
False Albacore
Blackfin Tuna
Tripletail
Cobia
Tarpon
Snook
Redfish
Permit
Mackerel
Kingfish
The nearshore waters off of Naples and Marco Island are a convenient place to take family, friends, and clients fishing in the Gulf of Mexico for some non-stop action with short boat rides and the ability to be back at the dock before lunch.
